Baby Back Shak has a new look, same great food

Posse photo by Jim Rossman Posse member Irwin Thompson alerted us to a remodel at the Baby Back Shak, a longtime Posse favorite joint. We’ve always loved the ribs and boudin, along with the turkey and even the Shak beans, but the building, which was totally void of windows, was always very dark and the decor was mid-70s with faded sports photos on the walls. The way a place looks has never stopped us from enjoying Clarence Cohens great food, but I have to say, the changes — especially the new front door and wall of windows — makes a…

BBQ Signs of our times – Chapter 2

Our series of photos of great signs at BBQ joints continues. These photos are from our recent trips to Taylor, for the Taylor International BBQ Cookoff, and from the recent Brazos and Beyond BBQ Tour. As I’ve said before, nothing reveals the character of a good BBQ joint better than a great sign! The more homemade the sign, the more remarkable your dining adventure will likely be. BBQ Signs of our times

You can always get an idea of the character of a BBQ joint by the sign out front. The more down home the sign, the more amazing your meal will likely be. Here are some signs from our recent North Texas BBQ Tour. Also a couple from posse member Irwin Thompson, shot as he drove though east Texas last week.
